Discussion

25 January 2012
We don't have class for BEL260 today. Miss Zu just want to make a conversation or more like a disscussion for our test tomorrow. To make a discussion more effective, miss Zu divided us into small group. So, miss Zu will discuss group by group at a  different time. We are discuss about the reading part and especially for the writing part which is linear to non-linear writing. Miss Zu asked for our problem for this type of writing. As miss Zu want us to do some exercise for this essay at the previous class, so we are discuss a little bit about the exercise that we have done. Miss Zu shows us an example of good essay which is Aira's essay. After looking at her essay, I can see a lot of different between my essay and Aira's essay. Okay,I think I should learn from her. So, I decided to change it back before I pass up to miss Zu. I hope it will help me a lot in test 1...

Mid Term Test Paper

18 January 2012
Helloooo.....
As mid term test is getting closer, Miss Zu teach us how to answer mid term test for Bel260. This mid term test consist of two question which is reading comprehension for part A and writing for part B. I think it is quite easier than BEL120. This is bacause for a writing question we only have to write an essay based on visual aids.

 Some tips:

1.Follow Non Linear writing’s Formula:

 TITLE

1) OV + CI
2-3) KFs
  4) P(i) + P(ii)

2. Find the highest and lowest

3. If possible try to compare them

4. Other possible key features/points in the data provided

Class end early today because miss Zu has a meeting...yeay!!! but with one condition that we will have a quiz based on mid term test for the next class.

Forum

17 January 2012
Speaking???? We have did it for many times. We can re-learn this mode of being with practice especially for speaking test. Miss Zu wants us to do a forum much more likes a talk show program such as Breakfast show, Malaysia Hari ini, Selamat Pagi Malaysian and others. I think I did't like this activity so much as it is too formal. We can only talk more to fact about the task. However, it help me a lot on how to solve the problem by giving reason and suggestion.

My group members for this talk show are Nina, Rahey, Syazwan and Amalina. We have divided into five group and five members for each group. After that, we are given one task and we have to solve it by giving reason, effect and also a suggestion to solve this problem. This is our task :
The cost of things has sky-rocketed over the last five years. Managing our finances is becoming more and more difficult. Discuss the reason for the prices increase and suggest some solutions to this problem.

Reason :
  • Inflation
  • Lack of resources
  • Competition

Effect :
  • High living cost
  • Corruption
  • poverty

Suggestion :
  • Ceilling price to protect consumer
  • Campaign on financial management

According to this activity, I think the best group is group 4 which is Elya's group as they have interesting contain on their point. The best panel for this activity is Megat. While, the best host is Farhani. This is because   she is very funny and act spontaneously. I think if she has her own show, everyone will enjoy her show.

Fact and Opinion

12 January 2012
I'd like to share with you what I have learned for today. Normally we only have one class for thursday but for today we have two class for BEL260. One class in the afternoon for replacement class and class in the evening. For afternoon class, as we have learned about linear to non-linear essay, miss Zu decide to make a pop quiz for this topic. We take about one hour for this quiz.

Night Class
What is the difference between fact and opinion??? The difference between fact and opinion is that a fact is something that is empirically true and can be supported by evidence, while an opinion is a belief that may or may not be backed up with some type of evidence. An opinion is normally a subjective statement that can be the result of an emotion or an individual interpretation of a fact. For example, biological differences between males and females are a fact while a preference for one gender over the other is opinion. It is hard to find whether the sentences is fact or opinion especially when it goes to reading comprehension. There are some tips on how to differentiate between this two things...

Facts :

  • Things known for certain to have happened
  • Things known for certain to be true
  • Things known for certain to exist
Opinion :
  • Things believed to have happened
  • Things believed to be true
  • Things believed to exist

EXAMPLE :

     1.     More and more women are deciding to give birth to their children at home. A hospital,
after all, is not the best place for a baby to be born. FACT

2.     B. J. Vukovich, author of Claws, the best-written novel of the disaster genre, will speak at tonight’s “How I Became An Author” meeting. OPINION

3.     The national coal strike, now into its seventh week, has caused untold hardships on the miners, their families, and the rest of the winter-weary nation. FACT

4.     Janet Guthrie, world famous auto racer, was the least nervous driver at the Indy 500. OPINION

  1. Once the cavity reaches the dentin (the hard, dense, bone-like material that composes the principal mass of the tooth), it must be cleaned and filled. Some researchers, however, are beginning to question whether periodic cleaning and checking of the enamel (the calcareous substance that forms a thin layer capping the teeth) plays a significant role in preventing tooth decay. FACT
At the end of the class, we join the activity on distinguishing between fact and opinion. We are divided into group of 5 and each group have to pick one of the product that miss Zu have put it in one box. We have to make 10 sentences of fact and opinion and other group will guess whether it is fact or opinion. For my group we got a product of oreo with vanilla flavour. yummy!!! For this activity, Rahey's group is considered as a winner as they got higher mark differ from other group.

Acting Again!!!!

11 January 2012

So you think you can act? This is the activity we have to do for today. For the first time when miss Zu asked to act in musical acting, I feel this is so hard for us to do so. But, as we have divided into a group of 5 and discuss with my group members, I feel very excited to do this task and I think this activity is very fun as we can act and in the same time can sing a song especially a song that we love. However, I am not satisified with my group performance as we are not prepared for this activity at all. I think 30 minutes is not enough for us to discuss and make some rehearsal. I would like to apologise to miss Zu as we are not perform well in this activity. I hope I can do better in the next activity.
Based on this activity, I think the best group of this activity is group 5 which is Megat's group. The best actor is Izaudin and the best actress is Farhani as both of them perform very well in this activity.
